I am a NATURALIST at heart, a BIOLOGIST by training and a FACILITATOR by profession. Academically, I graduated with a Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees in Life Sciences from the Madras Christian College. Further studies included the Wildlife Conservation and Management Program with the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C & the Malaysian Department of Wildlife and National Parks followed by a few years of a second Masters-PhD (abandoned) in Wildlife Management & Conservation Biology in the United States. Educationally, I consider myself privileged to have spent nearly thirty years working in the Great Outdoors. In the early eighties, I was introduced to the magic of sea turtles and went on to found the non-profit Student’s Sea Turtle Conservation Network (SSTCN) which for the past 25 years has been working towards sensitizing people about the environment. I have lived and worked as a commercial fisherman, deck hand & cook on board an Alaskan Purse Seiner; been a banquet waiter, snack bar cook, pet store assistant, zoo keeper, croc-catcher, construction worker, website developer and built and run two community cafes. I've worked for a couple of the larger non-governmental organisations, ending up learning that the enemy I had to contend with was within. For nearly two decades now, my mainstay has been DreamCatcher, my Outdoor Education Company. We ran some of the earliest "Outward Bound" style programs in India, took on contract outdoor activities for large hotel chains, conducted learning programs for schools and operated small group journeys for people from around the globe. So far its been a full life, with more than my share of highs and with as many lows. So what do I do now? I've down-shifted a bit. I enjoy the challenge of being a team building & experiential learning facilitator for much fewer programs. I support a few non-profits with their outreach as a fundraising consultant. I write.
