Since the first Bengaluru Pride in 2008, the LGBTIQ community has come together every year under the umbrella of the Coalition for Sexuality Minorities Rights (CSMR) to organize multiple queer events culminating in the Pride March. In recent years, pride related activities including marches have happened in several districts in Karnataka.
The programme of events is ongoing, and culminates in the Pride March on November 22 (Sunday) 2015.
Organised under the banner of the Bengaluru Pride & Karnataka Queer Habba 2015, the festivities this year include queer sports, conversations with LGBTIQ activists, poetry reading, street plays, and a diversity mela.
We’ve already held a couple of events, including a queer quiz and a panel discussion with the veterans of Bangalore queer activism. It’s not only fun and games, though: there’s also a confidential meeting group for HIV-positive individuals, support groups for families and friends of queer people, and more.
In order to fund these events we seek financial assistance from individuals and allied supporters. Funds received will be used to organise these events not just in Bangalore but in other districts in Karnataka as well.
We need to raise a Lakh to pay for the March,
the Mela and some of the Lead-up-to Events
