If you are an Indian Citizen and interested in some some facet of India’s vast social fabric, NFPI’s Crowdfunding for Journalists – is a platform where you could find funds and support for your work directly. This means you and your supporters decide which story needs to be published. You could use whatever media you are comfortable with or collaborate with a team on NFPI, that provides media you’re unsure of.

  1. Get in touch with an intent, a bias, some skill, some experience and with or without an idea.
  2. After some basic validation of your credentials and background, we will help you create YOUR PAGE on www.notforprofit.in.
  3. We work with you to flesh out your idea get YOUR PITCH in place, we will then together endeavor to raise support and funds for your project.
  4. Once you reach a certain level of support and funds, we'll get you on your way. As you go along, you will need to keep YOUR SUPPORTERS, both financial and other in the loop with the progress of your project.
  5. When you are done, we will publish YOUR WORK, inform your supporters and otherwise promote you and your work.

Apart from the donations or financial support, the validation of your work will happen over many levels: our inputs, if required into your proposal; the non-financial network support you receive from our collective community; the response to your work-published on our platform including the possibility of promotion for republication elsewhere (with your permission of course) and the opening response to your next project.

It’s possible! Pitch your story idea on www.notforprofit.in, use the power of your community to raise funds for what you will create, get your work published and grow an audience! Even if you are a yet-to-start or an occasional creator we may be able to help you find a supportive audience.

    Hey there!
Dont know how to pitch d story idea. Grt to knw that someone is asking for a ‘bias’ in story. Am a journalist and want to write sans the obligatory ‘balance’ and take a side. How do I do it?

My take on Bias – We all are and pretending otherwise seems an exercise in futility. There is an old saying – Lord, protect me from my Friends, I will take care of my Enemies. To be very candid, I am struggling with an intent. An intent to expand the work of notforprofit.in into journalism. I am looking at making it possible for a journalist to create a project on http://www.notforprofit.in to fund a story s/he wants to tell. So if you have A working title, A brief pitch including explaining why this reporting matters and the questions you’ll answer through your reporting. An relevant image or two (if you have), A brief bio + picture of yourself – We should be good to get started. Now once your campaign is published, you and I will work to get the project funded online. The story rights will belong to you, since we are a platform and not a publishing house. I am aware that the above is rather simplistic but in the interest of building clarity – one step at a time.

    Hello Sir/Madam,
I want to become a citizen journalist. I am an working professional and want to contribute to the society.
l am highly motivated to do this work. So it is my passion to do something for the society as a common man.

I am from a small town near Kolkata. One thing that troubles me and I think many of us, is the Solid Waste Management. I just want to cover stories from local municipalities regarding MSW recycling management and how to make it much more organized.
I need your guidance and support.
    Waiting for your reply.
    thanks and. regards,
    Sujoy
